Trends in Educational Technology: Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality in Education is a hot topic right now due to diverse learners and the need to create learning tools that increase engagement and allow ALL students to show content knowledge. Please review my presentation which outlines Augmented Reality, how it can impact education, implications for special education, and several apps that can be used in ANY classroom!  Feel free to drop by the comment section to provide your own input and experiences with AR in the classroom!

  • Book Widgets: This is an article that goes over in detail the ten Augmented Reality Apps that are highlighted in the above picture.  The article is entitled, 10 Fun Augmented Reality Apps For Teachers to Use in the Classroom. 
  • E Learning Industry: This is the E Learning Industry article discussed in the presentation that highlights the impact of Augmented Reality in the Classroom.  This is a great resource for educational technology and how to use it in the classroom!
  • E Learning Industry: This is another E Learning Industry article that goes over the impact of Augmented Realty for Special Education.  This is a great read and has some embedded resources! This would be a great article to go over if you wanted to incorporate AR into your school!
  • Special Ed Tech News: This is another article that highlights implications for special education in relation to Augmented Reality.  It dives deeper into inclusion and how AR impacts students with transition, behavior, engagement, and independence.

Data Mine & Digital Tattoos: I Searched the Depths of the Web... What Did I Find? Well, not a whole lot!  I was given an assignment to search different websites and search engines with my social media accounts, usernames, and my full name.  After watching my professor's screencast I was a little bit nervous to use all of these search engines to "look for myself."  I thought I would find out that I was a lot easier to find than I wanted to be.  Turns out I really am not that easy to find on most of the websites that I used.  I think that may be because I tend to change my username, actual name, or I add a hyphen to my name.  I used to think my name was confusing because I could be called Mary, Mary K, Mary Kate or Kate.  Turns out this is a great thing because it has made me more difficult to find online.  For now I am okay with being hard to find online, but I may change my tone once I become more involved in teaching.  Below is a ...
